The Community Development Department guides and facilitates development within the City of Walnut. According to the Walnut General Plan, the fundamental goal of the City is to continue its role as a suburban residential community and preserve its rural character. This is accomplished with a commitment to provide the highest standard of development to preserve the health, safety, general welfare and quality of life for all people who live, work and visit Walnut. The Community Development Department is responsible for planning, building, engineering, economic development, code enforcement activities within the City, and provides support to the City Council and Planning Commission.
