The City of Walnut will continue to assess the impact of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), in consultation with Los
Angeles County Public Health Officials.
City Facilities & Programs
On Monday, March 16th the Walnut Senior Center & Walnut Teen Center will be closed through April 19, 2020. All City events and recreation classes planned through April 19th will be canceled or rescheduled to a future date. Other programs will be assessed as the City receives further information from LA County Department of Public Health.
Senior Center Care Calls
County Senior Meal Services Program
Seniors enrolled in the County’s Nutrition Program at the Walnut Senior Center will receive lunches on a “to-go” curbside, pick-up basis starting the week of March 16th. Seniors enrolled in the County’s nutrition program at the Walnut Senior Center can reserve meals each week by making reservations with YWCA/Intervale before 12:00 noon each Monday. Reserved meals will be distributed at the Senior Center on Thursdays between 10:30 am and 12:00 noon. For additional questions, residents can call YWCA/Intervale at (626) 214-9456.
On Tuesday, March 17th Walnut City Hall & the Maintenance Yard will be closed to the public until further notice. City operations will continue to run with staff available to provide services and answer questions by phone at (909) 595-7543.
Park playgrounds, ballfields, sports courts, and picnic areas are temporarily closed to the public. Please adhere to social distancing requirements in open park areas and on Walnut trails. Thank you.

City Issued Public Transportation Cards
Due to the City Hall Closure to the public, the City of Walnut will not be able to reload Foothill Transit Passes and MTA EZ Passes. For residents who currently have a Metrolink Quick Card, the City will be able to process payment (check only/NO CASH) and activate cards. Residents are asked to fill out the Metrolink Quick Card order form found here, place their application and payment (check only/NO CASH) in a secured envelope, and drop it in the dropbox located to the right of the main doors at City Hall. Staff will process the application the following business day. Your check will serve as your receipt. However, if you would like the standard monthly receipt, please include a self-address stamped envelope with your payment.
The City is taking extra precautions for the safety and well-being of our staff and the public. We are following recommendations and best practices from the CDC and LA County Department of Public Health. We are monitoring the situation and are prepared to respond should the situation change..
To help prevent the spread of disease, please practice standard hygiene practices, such as:
- Stay home when you are sick
- Washing hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds. Using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not on hand.
- Covering their nose and mouth with their elbow or a tissue when coughing or sneezing.
- Avoiding touching their eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Limiting close contact, like kissing and sharing cups or utensils, with people who are sick.
